Create A Password

Placing a password on your computer prevents others from gaining easy access to that computer. While there are ways of getting around a simple username and password, these methods are not simple for the average person. Sometimes when people purchase a new computer, they do not utilize a password to secure their computer. This could be because they are the only person that has physical access to that computer, or because they can’t come up with a password at the time of setup.

Whatever the reasoning is for not using a password or if you want to change your password, the steps below will help you implement a password on your account.

  1. Turn on your computer and allow it to boot into the Windows Operating system.
  2. ctrlaltdelPress CTRL + ALT + DEL at the same time
  3. changepasswordYou will arrive at at a blue screen that will give you the option to Change a password. Click on Change a password.
  4. If there is no current password for your account, you will be prompted to enter your password twice. If a password already exists, you will be prompted to enter the old password first.
  5. Press Enter once you are finished.

While there are other ways to arrive at the same place, this is the simplest and most consistent way to change this for a novice user
